Much like
Classic Doom for
Doom 3, this set of maps comes from an original. This time, the levels
from Doom 2 are being faithfully recreated in the Doom 3 engine.
Once again, I was transported back in time to a simpler game but this time
the enemies are faster and the game play is more taut. I wasn't
disappointed. This group really did a nice job on these maps and there is
MORE to come!
A Quick Review: I was really impressed with the faithfulness to the original
game. Right from the getgo I knew where I was and what I had to do. Unlike
the original, the bad guys in this version aren't quite as forgiving. They
are faster (of course) and because the creators want to keep this playable
for alot of people, creatures sometimes were required to transport in where
you wouldn't expect it. Ammo was fairly tight through the first couple of
levels (that's all I've played so far) but health was plentiful. Perhaps my
experience with the original helped in this area. Anyway, this is a definite
must download, so don't miss it!
